About Textile Design Department

The Textile Design Department strives to develop innovative and synergetic approaches to design for diverse sectors of the textile industry, markets and the social sector informed by an appreciation of the cultural heritage, a socio-economic and environmental concern that is developed through fieldwork. The course stress on creative explorations and from concept to prototype developed through various stages of further explorations and refinement. The curriculum emphasizes on building a variety of skills, in combination with theoretical knowledge and practical application. The Department commences with the fundamentals of textile design. This includes, textile fibers, weaves structure, surface design, dyeing techniques, printing methods, sewing techniques, constructed textiles and basic inputs in garment design.The textile design course was started from session 2010-11 with the intake of 60 seats.



To offer high quality diploma programme in textile design to prepare students for professional career or higher studies in area of textiles. The department promotes excellence in teaching, collaborative activity and positive contributions to society.


1. To provide quality & latest fashion related textile education.
2. To produce a perfect engineer as per the requirement of textile industry.
3. To produce students who understand the managerial responsibilities related to issues such as social, ethical and environmental aspects of the textile industry.
4. To provide continuing and informal education programme relevant to textile industries.

Departmental Activities

All the Guidelines of HSBTE Academic calendar are followed by the Textile Design Department. Other activities related to AICTE also performed. The department is well aware about result, placement, training & Industrial visit and all type of development of students in the field of textile.

Achievement of Department

1. All the previous students of diploma course are placed / well settled.
2. The students of this branch every year take actively participation in all activity of the institute as well as technical board & gains good position.
3. The students of this branch also represent the institute outside the institute in the field of singing, sports, and cultural activities.
4. The department every year gets state topper position for at least 2-3 students.
5. The demand of students is more as compare to intake.
